Description

BONE AUGMENTATION WEEK

Get ready for a compact and focused BAW Bone Augmentation Week – in just two days!

Together with our experienced ambassadors, we’ve developed an exciting program dedicated to the highly relevant topics of hard and soft tissue management. Our speakers will share their in-depth knowledge and proven techniques with you – for functional and aesthetically impressive results that are both reliable and reproducible.

Experience an inspiring and interactive two-day course packed with valuable insights and practical tips! To make the experience complete, live surgeries are, of course, an integral part, where our speakers will demonstrate the techniques you’ve learned in action.

We look forward to reaching the next level of dental medicine together with you!

Contents

In the context of "working exclusively with autologous materials" for patients, you will learn the fundamentals of using connective tissue grafts to optimize the quality and quantity of soft tissue around implants and teeth.
Dr. Illian Dargel will introduce you to this fascinating topic.

Here is an overview of the key points:

  • The differences between types of connective tissue grafts:
    • SCTG: subepithelial connective tissue graft
    • Tuber graft
    • FGG: free gingival graft
    • D-FGG: de-epithelialized free gingival graft
  • Indications for connective tissue grafts and their harvesting techniques
  • Flap design and surgical techniques for the use of connective tissue:
    • Tunnel technique vs. coronally advanced flap (CAF) vs. VISTA
  • Suturing techniques: sling sutures, double cross sutures, compression sutures using monofilament 6-0 material
  • Wound management at the donor site using elemental splints, APRF, and collagen

Ceramic implants offer a reliable therapeutic option. However, it is often the case that the existing bone is insufficient for implantation. Dr. Thore Santel will demonstrate, both in theory and practice, augmentation techniques that adhere to the principles of biological dentistry and integrate seamlessly with SDS ceramic implants. The following topics will be covered:

  • Histological structure of bone
  • Principles of bone and wound healing
  • Incision techniques
  • Harvesting autologous bone
  • Wound closure
  • Function and application of PRF
  • External sinus lift in a biological context
  • Augmentation using the shell technique

On the second day of the course, dentist Moritz Kneer from the SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC will lead a practical hands-on workshop. Since dentists and implantologists consider their work to be a craft and often have a strong inclination towards tactile tasks, the workshop has been carefully integrated into the Bone Augmentation WEEK. Here, you will have the opportunity to gain extensive routine and confidence in hard and soft tissue management. The following topics will be the focus of the practical session:

  • Simple and efficient methods for harvesting autologous bone (FDOK lid, ACM Bone Collector)
  • External sinus lift
  • Harvesting and applications of autologous bone plates
